Diffusion and Scattering in Multifractal Clouds

چکیده

Turbulent cascade processes generically give rise to asymptotic in between these functions and hence obtain extremely variable multifractals, and there is now the single scattering statistics. In some special cases, it is abundant empirical evidence that both cloud liquid water possible to renormalize the multifractal so as to obtain an density and cloud radiance fields are multifractal over equivalent homogeneous medium. We then estimate wide ranges of scale. Since general circulation models and anomalous diffusion exponents. NWPs assume that clouds are on the contrary horizontally homogeneous, it is therefore important to study the transport properties (particle, photon) of multifractals and compare the results with the homogeneous plane parallel situation. Since the plane parallel and multifractal radiative properties diverge for increasingly thick clouds, it becomes fundamentally important to characterize the scaling properties and optical thickness of real clouds.

A Computer Modeling of Mie-Scattering by Spherical Droplets Within the Atmosphere

The Earth’s atmosphere is an environment replete with particles of differ-ent sizes with various refractive indices which affect the light radiation traveling through it. The Mie scattering theory is one of the well-known light scattering techniques ap-plicable to modeling of electromagnetic scattering from tiny atmospheric particles or aerosols floating in the air or within the clouds. In this...

0 M ay 1 99 6 Critical dynamics and multifractal exponents at the Anderson transition in 3 d disordered systems

We investigate the dynamics of electrons in the vicinity of the Anderson transition in d = 3 dimensions. Using the exact eigenstates from a numerical diagonalization, a number of quantities related to the critical behavior of the diffusion function are obtained. The relation η = d − D 2 between the correlation dimension D 2 of the multifractal eigenstates and the exponent η which enters into co...

Multifractal Modeling and Analysis of Radiation in Clouds: 5000 km to 50 cm

Existing general circulation models rely heavily on strong cloud homogeneity assumptions; the solar radiation is assumed to interact with highly unrealistic plane parallel (horizontally homogenous) clouds. In contrast, real clouds exhibit fractal structures and multifractal statistics over wides ranges of scale. For example, in Lovejoy et al. (1993) and Tessier et al. (1993), we showed that the...

Path Integration for Light Transport in Volumes

Simulating the transport of light in volumes such as clouds or objects with subsurface scattering is computationally expensive. We describe an approximation to such transport using path integration. Unlike the more commonly used diffusion approximation, the path integration approach does not explicitly rely on the assumption that the material within the volume is dense. Instead, it assumes the ...

Tissue multifractality and Born approximation in analysis of light scattering: a novel approach for precancers detection

Multifractal, a special class of complex self-affine processes, are under recent intensive investigations because of their fundamental nature and potential applications in diverse physical systems. Here, we report on a novel light scattering-based inverse method for extraction/quantification of multifractality in the spatial distribution of refractive index of biological tissues. The method is ...
